A year ago, I thought I was going to retire. I was 76 years old and had sold Grindstone Bakery after an unwanted and very difficult divorce.
Then, the connection with the new owners of Grindstone didn’t work as expected, and a few months later Hector, who had been the lead baker at Grindstone and with whom I had worked for almost 20 years, decided to open his own bakery.
Now, he has offered me the opportunity to help him at The New Leaf Bakery and I have accepted his proposal with great joy. It is wonderful to be back in action with Hector following my passion and serving our community.
